Back To Routine

7:35

Not Much Snow Remains at 7:36

Up at 6:20, still surprised by how dark it is, 34º, windy and rain predicted for much of the day.  Much of the snow has melted, especially in our yard for some reason.  The lake is still frozen though no on seems to be out fishing yet so maybe it's becoming too warm, too treacherous to venture out on it.

We enjoyed our early morning at home yesterday, after having been away for the weekend.  We both love sitting on our couch, with coffee, NPR on the radio, as the day begins, the sun brightens the lake.  We are so lucky to have this view to wake up to each day.  At 9:30, I went to yoga, Evie to work out. It was great to get back to yoga, led by Chris, with only three other women.  We worked on the triangle pose, a modified warrior I think, which I am not very good at.  Most poses I am not very good at doing.  I was groggy, feeling listless but by the time class was over, I felt much better.  Nothing like some kind of activity to change your mood. Evie felt the same way, worked out hard on two machines, soaking her work out clothes.  I met her at Ryder's Cup for a coffee, where else, and went home to a hot dog lunch with my favorite Stadium Mustard, of course.

We did little the rest of the day, as it was windy, cloudy, some rain though I did venture out to check out our good friends the Mc Clure's house, to make sure the snow had melted on their drive way.  They are coming up on Thursday and were worried it would be blocked.

At 5:30, we had a glass of wine and some good cheese, one of our favorites, Castello, from TJ's, a combination of brie and blue.  How could it not be good.  And we were surprised at how long dusk lasted, light till about 7:30, something we don't like.  It's great in the summer but not in winter.  For dinner, we had cabbage rolls, frozen from the batch we made when our kids were here.  All Evie did was add more tomato sauce and sauerkraut and they were just as good as when we made them.  With mashed potatoes, a must, it was a feast.  We watched a movie called Junebug, realized we had seen it a couple of years ago but stayed with it as we did not remember much about it.  A husband takes his urban artsy wife home to his North Carolina home, where his family leads a life quite different from that of the city.  Amy Adams has a prominent role, perhaps one of her first, and is quite good.  We liked it, again.

We also finalized our plans for April, driving to Kansas City, arriving on Friday, April 5th, staying with Tommy and his family for four days.  We fly to Scottsdale on Tuesday, April 9th, for ten days, returning to KC on Friday, the 19th.  We will stay with Tom for the weekend, then drive home to Chautauqua on Monday, April 22.  We are excited to see Tommy and his family and spend some time in Scottsdale with Evie's sister Claire, her husband Henry, and Evie's mother in law, Dot.  We love the weather, especially hiking early in the mornings.  And April at the lake is wet, muddy, gray, depressing, thus our reason for travel, not that we need much of a reason.
