Muggy and Warm But No Rain Yet

Awoke at 5:00 but was able to get back to sleep till 7:00, enshallah.  It's overcast, humid, 70 degrees as we wait for the much needed rain, as it's been over a week since our last showers.  It's forecast for the day, for tonight, but I never trust the weatherman, like a politician.   The lake appears empty of any life, no boat noise, no fishermen or kayaks.  Summer is over.

Yesterday was a strange day, as neither one of us had much energy, no mojo so to speak.  It's as if we were recovering from a crazy week of activity when all that actually happened was that we had a Labor Day picnic on Sunday.  Strange day, ennui set in, perhaps it's the recognition that another summer has ended, no more grandchildren for a year, as some docks and boats were taken in yesterday, something that happens every Labor Day weekend.  I did manage to get in an early kayak ride, down to Whitney Bay, to view the damaged cottages, over to the Long Point Pavilion and home while Evie slept in, getting much needed sleep.  And later in the morning, we restarted our Sunday routine on Monday by walking the CI, seemingly abandoned by its residents.  It was fun, however, to be able to just walk in, no gates to pass, and enjoy the various neighborhood walks, their front yards competing with each other for a gardening prize.

We hung out the rest of the afternoon, sitting mostly inside as it was too muggy outside, depressing as well as no one seem to be around, either in their yards or on their docks.  We watched some golf, some tennis, read and took cat naps.  For dinner, we had left over chicken, noodles, corn and coleslaw, and finished the last three episodes of the fifth season of Breaking Bad.  Wow, it was nerve wracking to watch Walt and Jessie, finally conspire despite their differences, their lies, and take out Gus.  It seemed, a good way to end a series but obviously it didn't as this year's episodes are waiting for us on the DVR.  We cannot wait to see what direction it takes.  No spoilers Patsi!  We also watched some of the Bios on Romney and Obama.  Romney's was silly, sickeningly sweet, with little substance, and Obama's  was repetitive, with little depth, nothing new or interesting.  And leave the background music at home.  Bah!
