A Beautiful, Sunny, and Clear Chautauqua Morning

6:14
Up at 6:15, just in time to see the sun rise over Long Point.  The lake is calm, no wind to speak of, and it's cooler than yesterday, 43 degrees, with nothing but sun predicted for the day.  A morning like this is one of the reasons to live her at the lake.

Yesterday, I went to Yoga in the morning and Evie stayed home to get organized and make her famous vegetable soup, which we both love. It was a warm and sunny day, perhaps the first where we both said it really feels like summer may be on the way.  Things just looked greener, more in bloom, less like an early spring day and of course, it was warm out as well.  Activity on the lake had picked up, more fisherman and I even saw someone water skiing.  The neighborhood, too, is busy for the first time since last fall, as if everyone had the same idea, to come up and start getting their houses and yards in order for the coming summer.  A number of  docks went in yesterday as well, as Shane has been quite busy, wanting to get as many in as he can when the weather is fine.  Unfortunately, our dock sits in our yard as Billy is out of town, in Florida for a week.  He should be home today so maybe our docks will go in this coming week.  If not, we may give Shane a call as we have been waiting for at least two weeks now for our dock.

Last night, we went to a Cinco de Mayo party at Chautauqua Shores, the home of Jack Mc Kibben.  It was a lovely night for a party, so we were able to both converse outside on his patio for margaritas and appetizers, then sit outside around tables for our Mexican dinner.  He had it catered and even a bartender, which made it nice for him.  He could really enjoy himself.  The party was made up mainly of neighbors and whatever friends from the CI who live there year round or were up for the weekend.  Thus, we got to meet a number of new people, including our pharmacist in Lakewood, my urologist, and the usuals, Marshaus's, Grice's, and Heinz's. We sat at a table with the Grices and Marshaus's.  Jane was in rare form after a couple of margaritas, sitting between her ex and her current husband, getting them mixed up as she talked, a riot.  We only regret not having a camera to memorialize the evening.

Both Evie and I struck up a conversation with a couple named Greg and Linda Prechtl, only to find out he is the AD at Fredonia State, was the Men's basketball coach for twenty years, and works as Director of the Girls and Boys Club at the CI during the summer.  We realized that his first year as the Director would have been the last year our daughter Beth worked there, probably the summer of 1987.  We really hit it off, found we had much in common, sports, his wife's a teacher, and we laughed to find we both admire and like Obama.  We kept it quiet!  We exchanged phone numbers, so I am sure we will be getting in touch with each other once his year winds down at Fredonia State.  They have a house in Fredonia, one in Chautauqua Shores, on #394, and live on the grounds, in a CI cottage overlooking the lake during the summer.  It  sounds like a great gig and they obviously love it.

We came home about 9:45, watched an episode of a new series we found on Netflix called The Killing, based on a Danish crime series set in Seattle, with a female detective.  It's good enough that we wanted to continue watching it.
