Sunny and Clear, Rain Showers to Come

Jet Streams at 7:20 AM

7:40

Up at 7:20, to a blue sky, with jet lines scaring the sky, off over Bemus.  Strange.  The sun has just peaked over the horizon, lots of noise out on the lake, mostly geese I assume,  and robins near by.    How strange to hear birds out our bedroom window when we wake in the morning, signaling that spring is undoubtedly here, so says the wildlife.  It's now almost 9:00 and I hear thunder rumbling off in the distance, the rains coming earlier than predicted.

Walking Rails to Trails Near Mayville
Yesterday was a great day, high in the sixties, mostly sunny, a perfect day to walk, work in the yard, or kayak, all three things we did.  Late morning, we went up to Mayville, dropped some goodies off at Mc Clure's house, as they were arriving late in the afternoon.  We then went to the entrance to Sea Lion Drive, parked our car, and walked the Rails to Trails path, up past 426 following a snow mobile trail that, if we stayed on it, would take us all the way to Cassadaga, Stockton, or Bemus Point.  What fun that would be to do on a snow mobile.  We hiked out about 45 minutes, so we had a nice walk through mostly open fields, a bit wet in some places but mainly an easy walk.  It would be a great trail to bike on because it's so flat.

On the way home, we picked up a sub at the Lighthouse, watched The Daily Show and Stephen Colbert while we ate lunch, then Evie worked out in the yard, read some, and I finally finished The Science of Yoga.  Around 3:00, the lake was so beautiful, calm and blue, I got out my fishing gear and went kayaking out towards Wells Bay to see if I could get a bite.  Nada, the usual story.  I am not sure, at this time, what fish are biting, what they are looking for, in fact, I am not sure if they are in deep waters or coming to shore.  I will have to ask Skip at Hogan's, as he always gives me tips, to little avail I might add.
Closing Up the American Legion Hall in Mayville

Then, at 6:00, we went over to Linda and Ron's for a beer before dinner.  Linda had broken her foot last week, so she was in a cast and greeted us on her scooter, a cool little device that allows her to get around fairly easily in the house without crutches.  They both seemed happy to get up to the lake, to enjoy it and for Linda, recuperate on one floor, where it's much easier to get around.  We ended up at the American Legion for our usual, wings and sweet potato fries and closed up the place, leaving about 9:30, a good night and fun to see them again.

Today is yoga, then I take the Pilot in for a new muffler in the afternoon.  Evie wants to work on her garden rather than go to the gym, as it's supposed to be nice this morning, but rain in the afternoon.  March Madness begins today, so there's wall to wall b-ball on TV most of the afternoon and evening, a b-ball fanatics dream day.
