Heading Home Alas After A Month of Travels

New Year's Eve with Beth and family at Kazu
Beth and Rami
I was up early, 5:30,  anticipating our drive home I suppose.  All is quiet in the Albarran house, unusual though not this early in the morning.  We are leaving today because we think the weather will change tonight, get colder, with snow.  Hopefully, today we will have mostly rain on the way though as we get to Chautauqua, we may have some snow.

Yesterday, we relaxed and enjoyed the day with the kids, mostly Marisa I guess, as Tyler had a driving lesson and Mitch spent the afternoon with his buddies skateboarding.  Evie and I did go shopping for a couple of hours, braving the traffic which was intense here in Darien.  I did pick up some cross country ski poles for 25 dollars, surprisingly cheap and Evie spent her time in Kohl's picking up some bargains, returning some clothes.

We went to the Albarran's favorite sushi restaurant, Kazu, in Norwalk, about 15 minutes a way and had an amazing meal.  We went early, about 6:30 and it looked like other families with children had the same idea as it was mostly families at that hour.  We let Rami and Beth and Tyler do the ordering as they have the best idea of what to get.  We got this amazing presentation of sushi, a boat of delights, like the last time we were there.  And we gorged on various interesting combinations, one with sushi wrapped in bon filet.  It's hard to describe my favorite, as they all were amazing, though the lobster roll and tora were probably the favorites. We had great service, a great meal, and way to spend New Year's Eve.  We went looking for an ice cream parlor, through deserted streets in New Canaan and Darien to no avail so we had to go home to Evie's favorite, Nutty Buddies.  We played some Pictionary with the kids then watched a movie we thought all might like Napoleon Dynamite. I had seen it a couple of times when it came out maybe five or six years ago.  Unfortunately, I found it boring and not very funny though I know I really liked it when I first saw it.  By the end of the movie, there were only three of us left.

A Boat of Sushi

Yum

We all were exhausted so Marisa went to bed, the rest followed not much later though Tyler stayed up to watch a movie, thus end the year 2011, a pretty good year overall.
