A Great Holzheimer Day at Lake Chautauqua

Claire, Grace and Jack looking a picture albums
A perfect day for a visit from Linda and Rich, and Pat and his family.  Blue skies, warm, a breeze, multiple libations, Chautauqua sandwiches, Beth's seviche, tubing, and we finished the day with chicken wings at the Casino.

After the day in the sun, we enjoyed sitting in the shade, cooling off, talking about the kids and our families
The Elderly Holzs
We ended the day, as I mentioned, at the Casino, a place we have been coming to and eating wings at for thirty years.
Enjoying the cool breeze
Tom, Mary, Jill and I enjoying the shade of the trees

Tommy and the Girls
Shucking corn to go along with the Chautauqua sandwiches, of fried eggplant, tomatoes, lettuce, bacon, and of course, mayo.

Five orders of Wings is Enough
The boys did real damage to the wings, each devouring a double, along with fries, with just a few leftovers.
Rami and The Girls
Beth, Rami, and the girls enjoying the water with cousin Sofi.

The Holzs arrived about 12:30, took a quick swim and then we all had lunch.  The rest of the afternoon was spent playing in the water, sun bathing, and just enjoying being with each other.  I took Jack and Grace out tubing and it was pretty good, as it was windy,  creating some large waves, bouncing them around quite a bit.  The kids played constantly on the rafts, trying to throw each other off or playing Wipe Out, a new game them invented.  About 5:00, we all got cleaned up, sat in the yard with drinks, and ate Beth's seviche with chipes, a real success, just the right taste after a day in the sun.  Then, I took all the girls and boys in the boat to the Casino, while the rest went by car.  We were lucky to get seats down on the main floor where it was cooler, as it was a hot day.   The girls played outside or on the games, while the adults talked and drank beer.  We devoured close to 300 bucks worth of wings and beer, a new record but their were 21 one of us.  After we had wings, the girls played on the playground for a half hour, got ice cream cones, jumped in the boat and we headed back to the house.  Linda and Rich and crew headed straight home from the Casino, about 8:30 so they should have gotten home around 10:30.  The girls went up to bed, I told them a bad boy story, but they were up talking, jazzed from the wings I suppose, until 10:30.  The boys  watched Shark Week, a tradition it seems for a Chautauqua vacation.  It was a great day.

Looks like today's  going to be hot and humid, as some are going swimming already because it's sticky in the house, about 76 degrees in and out, 73% humidity.  Evie's made crepes and pancakes for breakfast, as the boys just got up, it's 9:30, must have spelled the pancakes.  Rami leaves for Dallas at 5:00, so dinner is up in the air, either kofte kebabs with tomato sauce or off to the Viking Club for Reubens and Cubans.  The cooler is packed, ready for the day, with beer, pop, wine and mucho ice.  Time to enjoy the day.
