Gray, Overcast, Misty, and Gentle Rain: I Love It!

Pink Ladies Set for the Gorge
It's overcast, as the sound of a constant rain, fills the house this morning, as it's just me, my computer and am empty downstairs, with all upstairs sleeping, the only quiet time of the day.  I am not sure how much it rained last night, but it's been raining for at least my first hour of wakefulness.  It seems like a long time since we have had a rain like this, not the torrential downpour of a couple of weeks ago, but this constant rain that soaks in the ground.  My new grass loves it.

It looks like a trip to the library today, to see Libby, the cat, and Tabby, the librarian, I am not kidding.  Perhaps a movie on the docket if it continues to rain, something like Captain America is at the local theaters though I have a bunch of old scary movies on Netflix for the boys, like THEM, INVADERS FROM MARS, THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON, things like that.  They will probably be bored to tears, as there's no action, I mean not enough for them.

We had a great dinner last night, as Jill made her salmon filets with salt, pepper, lemon slices, an a bit of mayo, then wrapped in tin foil, grilled for about three or four minutes a side, then left to sit for a few minutes before opening.  We had salad and rice as sides, after two pounds of scallops, a la Ina Garten for an appetizer, lemon, garlic, white wine, and lots of butter.  It was a bit overcast outside, but perfect for eating, as we have yet to eat inside, a record for the kids stay as it usually rains.

Beautiful Day at Chautauqua Gorge with Kids
Yesterday's trip to the Chautauqua Gorge was great fun, as I mentioned, and the girls, not the boys, captured some frogs, to go along with their slug farm, though we lost one frog in the car on the way home till Marlena saw it under the seat.  I had to pull off the road so she could get unbuckled and retrieve the frog and put him back in his yogurt container.

Looking for Minnows

I just hear footsteps up stairs, as the girls are starting to awaken, it's 8:05, so better quit for now.

The rain must bring craziness as this has been that kind of day.  Evie and I took off about 10:30 with the girls, to Master Cuts at the Mall, to get Halle and Marlena's hair cut.  We then went to Joanne's Fabrics to get paints, as each grandkid is going to decorate a rock for our road.  We then hit Mickey D's as the girls were hungry, of course.  Then, on to the Dollar Store to pick up presents to replenish the  treasure chest and the girls get first picks tomorrow.  We then finished the morning at the Ashville Library to see Libby and the girls each got about three books a piece.  When we got home, Tommy and Jill were having a bake off, each making a banana cream pie; we get to vote tonight.  Meanwhile, Mitch is making Bananas Foster for tonight, as well as frozen deep fried ice cream balls, which he made yesterday.  Mary is making her special Sicilian pasta sauce and I started no knead bread last night so I have to bake it today.  Beth and Mitch went off shopping and art gallery viewing, stopping at the Artist Loft, then Tops in Mayville.  She just got home and it's now 3:30.  Wow!
